Cozy Read Fit For A Night In.....or Not

I found a new book that I just started reading and will probably finish by tomorrow morning, that is if I can stop laughing for a few minutes.

18297707Tangled by Emma Chase
I have to say that even though I have just begun reading this book, Emma Chase is a BRILLIANT author. This book is full of nonstop laughter, though a bit on the 18 and over side. (Just a warning to any young readers) however, for all you lovers of romance and haughty arrogant male leads and girls who wont give them the time of day until they become all pouty, well this is for you.

And watch out, it's in the guy's POV as opposed to the girl's. It's just amazing to see the inner working of a playboy. Who knew they could actually fall in love.... and what they do is pretty hilarious!

I guess I won't be sleeping tonight! (Oh and if you click on the title and follow the link...scroll down to the review...you wont be disappointed by the comical and gut-bursting gifs)

Now off to go read!!!

I mean it's about time, right!?

Cozy Reads

I AM IN THE BIGGEST READING SLUMP!!!

It's true, and it is sad. I had such a great start to the month and within the first week I had read 4 books! But it ALL went down hill from there on out. I haven't finished one single book in TWO whole weeks. Even just talking about it is making me depressed. It is not like I don't want to read, I just can't seem to figure out WHAT I want to be reading or find a book that grabs me and doesn't let go! I know a couple books that I would love to be reading but I don't currently own and I am on a no buy book diet right now. Anyways, I do have some books I am someway into and hope to finish this weekend or in the coming week.

First up, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling. I have been wanting to re-read the whole HP series for years now and I had not had the chance. The fact that I didn't devour this book in one sitting should be indicative of how bad my slump is. I am currently on page 228 and have a little more than 100 to go. I am going to try to read one or two a month. I am LOVING being able to relive the fantasy and magic that is Hogwarts. It makes me so sad that I never got my acceptance letter! :(

The other book I am reading is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This is another re-read for me. Do you see a trend here? This is one of my all time favorite books by one of my all time FAVORITE authors! This time I am going through and tabbing some of my favorite quotes as I read along. I am on page 128 at the moment. I am hoping that reading some of my faves will pull me out of this slump.

That's mainly what I will be reading, though I have started two other books which I won't even mention because a) I barely have read anything from them and b) I don't think I will continue to read them anytime soon.

Hope you guys are having a great reading month and if you have any recommendations please let me know! :)

Kristy's Cozy Reads Week 3 (1/19-1/25)

This week I was feeling in the mood to read some romance novels…my guilty-pleasure. And what a pleasure they are (If you know what I mean).

Okay, okay, let me save the naughtiness for the bedroom….
So I decided to give in this week and read 2 romance novels about some very gorgeous yet brutish and arrogant Scottish Highlanders. The type that every girl wants to meet having the chance to go up into the Highlands and looking for some romance and adventure…I know I have been fantasizing about this more than I probably should. Not the point though.

Anyway, the books I read were actually rereads, because I still find them fascinating the second and third time around.

A Gentle Feuding by Johanna Lindsey
11430818

The Wedding by Julie Garwood
107778

These two wonderful ladies are actually my two favourite Romance authors. They know how to create a story, add handsome and charming characters, adventure, and they definitely know how to captivate their readers. So if you like romance novels (like I do) you should read their novels. If you have already read a few or all of them, then leave me a comment so we can talk about it or recommend me some of the ones you all like.

P.S. Johanna Lindsey’s Malory series is the BOMB!!

Genre Spotlight: Fantasy

It's that time of the week again to showcase one of our favourite genres with out Genre Spotlight of the week. Unfortunately last week due to the holidays, not much was posted and this was pushed back, but here it is!

This week's genre is FANTASY! There is nothing like diving into a whole new world!

Judith's Fantasy Recommendation:

My pick for this week is The Alchemyst by Michael Scott! I read this book on my boyfriend's recommendation, since the series is one of his all time favorites. Well okay, it was more like "YOU BETTER READ IT! NOW!" What can I say, he's very passionate! :)  Regardless, I was glad I listened to him, because I really enjoyed it! It is quite the adventure and very action packed. If I am not mistaken, the whole story takes place within the span of one day. There is so much detail and world building on every single page. If you are even remotely a fan of history you will absolutely love this book. Michael Scott has an incredible talent when it comes to taking bits of history and giving them a whole new life. You begin to question certain events and even sometimes prefer his retelling to the original versions you know. This is one of those books you do have to pay attention to or you might miss an important part, but the ride is definitely enjoyable! If you are a fan of history and magic you will love this book!!!

Kristy's Fantasy Recommendation:
6304335 Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
Many of you are probably going to kill me for this, but actually, the reason why I read this book or even learned about it was because of the film. When it came out I was captured by the fantasy with the promise of magic where you would least expect to find it; "middle of nowhere South Carolina," as Ethan Wate, the protagonist of the story, puts it. Along with the fantasy aspect of it, comes romance and new friendships that you wouldn't expect and even a little bit of history. Your least favourite characters become your favourite.
Another thing I love is that these characters are avid readers with a love for "banned" books. It infuriates the overly religious women and you can't help but laugh at their outrage.
The more you read, the more the plot begins to twist and you don't know what is real and what isn't. You are trapped with the need to find out more...until you pick up the second book (which I need to continue reading). But you won't be disappointed. There is so much magic filling the pages that you will be entranced the entire way through.

If any of you lovelies have any fantasy faves that you would like to recommend or just really love, leave us a comment. We'd love to hear from you all!

Next Week's Genre Spotlight will be Contemporary. If anyone has any future genres they'd like to see in the spotlight or any ideas of their own, leave a comment to let us know.

Until next time lovelies!

Kristy: Cozy Reads- Week 1 (1/2/14)

I guess you could say that I am starting the year off right with a book on my lap and a cozy place to sit. However, it's more like three books and the corner of the couch with my Batman slanket* draped over me. That's usually where I'll spend my days and nights of reading...it's just so comfy! But this isn't what today's post is about, it's about my cozy reads for the day and remainder of the week.

As I said earlier, I have three books, yes three, that I will be focusing on this week (though they may carry over to next week with the given the circumstances...i.e. I have to work). The way I'll be reading these aren't in any particular order yet all at the same time, if that makes any sense. Here they are:
7260188
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It's been a while and I have owned this book practically since it came out, but after reading Catching Fire I just couldn't seem to get into the third installment. However, I am happy to say that I am doing much better and loving and hating it. By hating, I mean, I don't trust the new characters and I still love the old. I'm currently at pg 40 and hoping to get further tonight, and possibly finish it before the weekend is up. The good thing is that Judith and I will be reading this together!! We've done this with one other and find it a great way to read since we read about 100 pages at a time then discuss everything we liked and disliked about that section. (It's fun if you have a friend to read with and very entertaining and challenging)

17675462Next, we have The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. This one I'm about 50 pages in, though I find it very hard to push through the beginning. I have read that at first it's hard to get into, but gets better so I'm trying to push through it but that gets harder when you have other books that you want to read. I'm hoping to finish this one too because I really want to know how it plays out, especially because I love all the supernatural and paranormal world. And when I do finish this one I can get the next one in the series *smiles evilly*

18244920

Last but definitely not least, Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger.Who would have known that I would pick this book up...well probably everyone who knows me well enough. Apart for my supernatural love, I love spies! And this book takes the cake because it pretty much has both packaged in one and tied up nicely with a pretty bow. I have yet to start this one, and my possibly be started next week, but I really cant wait. This one too has a second part which just makes it better because I hate to be left hanging and have to wait another year to know what happens. I guess you can say I'm a "little" impatient.

We're off to a good start this year and hopefully I can continue my cozy reads for more than once a millennium, at least that's how it feels like when school is in motion. Though it is one of my bookish resolutions for this year.

Well that's all for this week on my cozy reads....Hope everyone has some material for this week and don't forget to check out the next book challenge!! Hope to see you all participating and reading tons!

Judith: Cozy Reads 01/01/14

HEY EVERYONE!

I thought I would post a quick Cozy Reads letting you guys know what I am currently reading and will probably  be reading for the remainder of the week.

Psssst...I will let you in on a little secret. For 21 years I was strictly a one book at a time kind of gal, until I wasn't entirely done with one book I wouldn't dare pick up another one. This past year that all changed! I am not quite sure why but I think it has to do with my discovery that by reading multiple books in different mediums I could get a lot more reading done. I started reading three books at any given time, a physical book, an e-book for when I was laying in bed, and an audio book for when ever I was cleaning or doing something on the computer. That's the way it has been for the last couple of months but for some reason this week I seem to be wanting to read ALL the books at the same times! I have been reading a couple chapters of one and then picking up another and doing the same and just rotating. Luckily the three books are all quite different in content and I don't run the risk of the events jumbling together.

Well now that I am done rambling I will get on with the good stuff...the books!

The first book I am reading is Killing Floor by Lee Child. This is the first book in the Jack Reacher series. My MIL has been recommending the series to me for a while now and she recently lent me her kindle so that I could read it. I don't know how many I will read since there are about a MILLION in the series! It is a mystery/thriller/crime novel, which is great because I haven't read too many books that fall within those genres. I am about 43% into it and so far I am loving it! Although, I am constantly in a state of anxiety as I am reading because one bad thing after the other keeps happening! Like WOW can they please catch a break!!!

The Second book I am currently reading is The Magician by Michael Scott. This is the second book in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. The first book in the series is actually my Fantasy recommendation of the week! I am really enjoying the series. It is a great mix of history and magic and I love the alternate explanations for various events! I am currently on page 113 out of 464 and there hasn't been a shortage of action! There are six books in the series and I am going to try to read one a month, unless there is a terrible cliff hanger at the end of one of them and then I must continue! Luckily my boyfriend owns them all and they are sitting on our shelf waiting patiently!

FINALLY, the last book that I will be reading is the one that I am most excited about! *Drum roll please!* Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins!!! This is the third and final book in The Hunger Games trilogy! As you all know, I read Catching Fire last month for the Christmas Booktube-a-thon and really loved it and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the next one! It seems kind of crazy that I am finally going to finish the trilogy considering I read The Hunger Games sooo long ago. The most exciting part is that Kristy and I will be reading it together! She had yet to read the last one as well so we thought we would do it together! We are going to try to do it in sets of 100 pages at a time. I am currently on chapter 3 and will hopefully reach chapter 8 by the end of the night.

Well...so much for a quick post! I am just so excited about this weeks reads!

What will you guys be reading this week??!

<3 Toodles!

Genre Spotlight: Romance

Each week we have decided to post up two book recommendations for a certain genre of our choice. It's a good way for everyone to check out new books especially if you typically enjoy the genre of the week.

This week's genre is ROMANCE! So all you hopeless romantics out there can fall in love all over again.

Kristy's Romantic Recommendation:
1672727Two Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt
This book is full of youthful romance, breakups, and an annoying car ride that's way too long for comfort. And as we all know and sometimes refuse to acknowledge, there are two sides to every breakup. That's what Courtney figures out on this long, heartfelt journey. You can't help but feel bad for Jordan having to make some pretty hard decisions and Court giving him crap for it because really, it's hard to stay friends with your exes, especially if you don't have all the facts. There's a BIG secret just waiting to be uncovered and once it's out, well.... You'll just have to read it and find out what that's all about.

You won't be disappointed by Two Way Street. You get the love, the fighting, the heartache, and the vengefulness of a real relationship and much, much more.

Judith's Romantic Recommendation:
My pick is Only Yours by Susan Mallery. "Wait, wait Judith, isn't this the 5th book in a series?!" Why yes, it is. This is the 5th book in Susan Mallery's Fools Gold Series, but don't fret BECAUSE this is one of those series that you can pick up any of them and read them out of order! Of course, you get to know the other characters better if you read them all but this is just as fabulous as a stand alone novel! I recently fell in love with Susan's writing and have read 9 of her books but this one stands out the most. What do you get when you mix a quirky, lovable, therapy dog trainer and a stubborn, kindhearted, scarred, gorgeous surgeon? A story so real yet utterly magical. This is a story about how love and friendship have the power to heal not only on the outside but most importantly, the power to heal the scars that can't be seen.

If any of you lovelies have any romances of your own that you would like to recommend, leave us a comment below. We'd love to hear what you guys are reading too!

Next Week's Genre Spotlight will be Fantasy. If anyone has any future genres they'd like to see or any ideas of their own, drop us a comment!!!

Judith: Cozy Reads 12/18/13

Tonight's Cozy Read is Demon Glass by Rachel Hawkins. This is the second book in the Hex Hall Series. I read the first earlier this year during Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon and really loved it! It was such a fun read but was also full of action. I must say I didn't see most of the twists at the end coming which I loved! I am about 125 pages into Demon Glass at the moment. It has taken me a lot longer to finish this one because with finals and family related stuff I just kept getting interrupted. BUT I am definitely hoping to finish reading it between tonight and tomorrow, before the Booktube-a-thon. I am thinking I might either post a joint review for Hex Hall and Demon Glass OR wait until I finish all three and then just do a series review. I am not sure yet, I guess it depends on how much I have to say about it once I am done! :D

Well lovely readers, I am off to snuggle on my couch and read the night away!
